i just finished up doing my taxes and realized that no where on the package does it say anything about local taxes? i only filled out one time during the whole process my local income tax amount. i have efiled my federal and am going to mail the state in myself. but what about my local? hopefully someone out there knows the answer….

    You don’t need to file local taxes. Just Federal and State if you pay State taxes. I don’t in Washington State.

    If you are talking about your deductions there is a place in turbo tax where you put your local tax rate in for deduction purposes. You can either choose the estimated tax deduction or if you keep every single receipt all year long you can put every single one in. You had just better make sure that have all receipts in case you get audited.

    Dear wendy: Most software programs do not carry local forms. You will have to check the web site for the city or district involved. If close go to city hall and ask for the form, my little town in Ohio actually will do the return for you while you wait.

    I really don’t know the answer. My local taxes were usually deducted straight from my salary and that was that. They are a deduction on your federal this year tho. . .
