If you're receiving it from a state that witholds state tax, then you'll have to file a state tax return for that state. Otherwise, as long as you don't receive money from that state, then you should be good to go and not have to file a state return. Will you be working in OR? Or will it be WA? When in doubt, look at your W-2 and look under state tax witholding and earnings. If on the W-2 it has WA as the state you received the money from, then you'll have to pay thoses state taxes. It’s a matter of where you receive the wages, earnings, or whatever money it is you’re receiving. If you’re receiving it from a state that witholds state tax, then you’ll have to file a state tax return for that state.
