Why is it necessary to file a tax return before april 15th? In other words, Why does the tax payer often receive a payment from the IRS when completing the filing of a tax return?

You have until April 17th 2012 to file the tax return & if you can’t file by that date, you can file for a six month extension, but remember the extension is only to buy time, the amount of any tax due has to be paid with the extension by April 17, 2012.For complete information on whether you need to file an income tax return, please follow the link below:

The only taxpayers who receive a payment from the government are those people who paid too much in taxes during the year….hence the word "refund". A tax return simply compares the amount of taxes paid versus your actual calculated liability…simple addition and subtraction. It is NOT a governmental bonus or handout, contrary to what some seem to think.

The law mandates that any U. S. Citizen file his or her tax return no later than April 15th of any given year. If it is of any consolation to you, this year you have, by law, until April 17th to file.

As to the payment or payments that you are alluding to, there are a variety of reasons such as overpaying their tax liability over the course of the year, the earned income credit, and several others credits which are basically a form of welfare as there are income restrictions involved in being able to receive these credits.

The law states prior to April 15. Fail to file in time and you pay late fees
Those taxpayers get a refund because they paid too much tax
We do that since we do not know the exact amount our tax bill will be and if we underpay the IRS charges a penalty and late fees.
    Taxpayer’s don’t stand a chance
